Justin Robb and Michael Phipps will take a seat on Wright Town Council for the first time.
Robb, an Anadarko mechanic, led the way in voting with 205 votes (33 percent). Phipps, an Antelope Coal Mine mechanic, finished just 10 votes behind Robb with 195 (32 percent). Wright High School teacher Anne Ziegenhorn came in third with 131 votes (21 percent) and High Plains Sentinel reporter Crystal O’Bryan came in fourth with 82 votes (13 percent).
Mayor Ralph Kingan, running unopposed, received 308 votes, 94 percent of all mayoral votes.
In the county commissioners race the three Republican candidates, Bob Maul, Rusty Bell and DG Reardon won handily (Bell took 33 percent of the vote while Maul and Reardon each took 30 percent). Democrat Robert Kothe, the lone Democratic candidate in Campbell County, mustered 7 percent of the vote.
In the intriguing county coroner’s race Republican candidate Paul Wallem walloped Independent candidate Steve Rozier, garnering 76 percent of the vote to Rozier’s 24 percent.
In the Campbell County School Board Race Joe Lawrence led the way (21 percent, 3,623 votes) followed by Linda Bricker (21 percent, 3,613 votes) and David Foreman (21 percent, 3,507). Larry Steiger and Doug Cox missed the board with 17 and 19 percent of the vote respectively. Anne Ochs, unopposed, won the two-year term.
Sara Hartsaw (21 percent), Alan Stuber (17 percent), Adrian Gerrits (16 percent) and Lisa Harry (16 percent) will form the next Hospital District board. Harry narrowly beat out George Dunlap. Brooks Worman received 14 percent of the vote and came last.
Like the county races, each race for state House of Representatives featured an incumbent Republican running unopposed. Thus Jeff Wasserburger won House District 23 (Converse/Campbell) seat, and Eric Barlow will keep his HD 3 (Converse Campbell) position.
In statewide races, Converse County voters followed the trend of other Wyoming counties and picked all Republicans: Mark Gordon for governor, Kristi Racines as auditor, and Jillian Balow as Superintendent of Public Instruction.
