The brass on the horns was shiny, the piano was tuned, the students were dressed all in black and the crowd was waiting.
The Wright Community Center was practically filled to the brim with family and friends waiting to hear the Wright Jr/Sr High School music program Dec. 6. Director Kimberly Miller planned an evening full of music and song to showcase the students’ talent.
The choir was on the stage first with music selections that included “Welcome Christmas,” A Festive Noel and Carol of the Bells.
After the beginning and junior band members played, the evening was finished with the senior high band who stepped back in time with Christmas from the ‘50s which featured a saxophone solo by Jayden Vasquez and ended with “A Mad Russian’s Christmas” which put the spotlight on Nathan Searcey and Steve Oakley on electric bass and guitar.
At the end of the evening, all the bands came together for one final round of “Jingle Bones” featuring the entire trombone section.
