Snow isn’t on the ground yet but houses are brightly lit with twinkling lights, trees are decorated and you can feel the holiday cheer all around.
It’s the time of year when students all over the country show off their hard work with a musical program. This year, the Cottonwood Elementary School third and fourth graders put on a show with a new spin.
The elementary school gym was filled Dec. 10 with friends and families waiting eagerly to see what their young students had prepared. The performance was a mix between poetry and music as between songs, various students would approach the microphone in the front and read out a verse of the classic “Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Clement Clarke Moore.
Classic holiday songs like “Christmas is Coming”, “St. Nick at Night” and “The Sugar Plums”  kept the audience engaged, but when “Reindeer on the Roof” was being sung, little children and some adults started dancing in their seats.
The evening of music and story brought families together to celebrate the hard work their students had done during the first semester of the year. Audience members left with warm hearts and big smiles after the students ended the evening singing “To All a Good Night.”
